Bechtle PLM Germany joins the German Robotics Association and starts co-operation

July 12, 2024

Bechtle PLM is a member of the German Robotics Association and supports participants in the robotics driving licence by providing DELMIA from Dassault Systèmes and training them in its use.

Too expensive, too complicated, too time-consuming: For a long time, these were the main reasons why it didn’t make sense for many smaller companies to use robots. However, robots have been an integral part of industry for decades and are a must in order to remain competitive. The German Robotics Association (DRV) is working with other companies to encourage SMEs to use robot technology. New partner on board: Bechtle PLM Deutschland GmbH is cooperating with the DRV and supporting the “Robot Driving Licence” project with DELMIA from Dassault Systèmes, a unique software solution.

Robots now play an indispensable role in modern manufacturing. They are taking on more and more tasks that are too dangerous, too monotonous or too complex for humans. But how can it be ensured that the interaction between humans and robots runs smoothly, effectively and responsibly?

This is where the German Robotics Association, an organisation representing the interests of the robotics industry in Germany, comes in. It represents the concerns and needs of its members, which include manufacturers, users, service providers and research institutions in the field of robotics.

The DRV cooperates with numerous companies and promotes the development and dissemination of robotics solutions that increase productivity, quality and sustainability in various industries. In addition, the association supports the training and further education of newcomers and specialists in the field of robotics as well as networking with other relevant players at national and international level. The DRV’s current project is the robot driving licence.

Working and wanting to work with robots.

The robot driver’s licence is a qualification that certifies that participants are able to operate and program a robot and plan systems, among other things. It is intended to increase the competence and confidence of robot users and at the same time improve the safety and quality of robotics applications. The participants use DELMIA from Dassault Systèmes for support. Bechtle PLM Deutschland GmbH provides the software solution, helps with implementation and trains the participants in its use.

“As a new member of the DRV, we help people obtain a robot driver’s licence. With DELMIA, we offer participants a sophisticated software solution for better planning, simulation and optimisation of production processes. This enables user companies to digitally map their production, test different scenarios, identify bottlenecks and increase the efficiency and quality of their products,” says Peter Aicher, Co-Managing Director of Bechtle PLM Deutschland GmbH.

Optimising production processes and reducing costs with digital tools.

DELMIA is specially designed for SMEs that need to remain flexible and competitive – for companies that want better collaboration between the development, production, logistics and quality departments.

“Robots have long been established in industry, but now SMEs also need to automate. With smaller budgets, this is not always easy, especially as many productions are too complex to rely on standard cells or cobots. That’s why we are delighted to have DELMIA and Bechtle PLM Germany on board for the robot driving licence, as simulation is an important cornerstone of modern automation.

Thanks to DELMIA, entrepreneurs, plant managers and designers can simulate their own production as a digital twin, including robot programming, before it is then implemented in steel and iron,” says Werner Hampel, founding member of DRV and project manager of the robot driver’s licence.

Counteracting the shortage of skilled labour.

The robot driving licence consists of various modules, which can vary depending on the type, function and area of application of the robot.

“The robot driving licence is a valuable certificate that significantly increases the skills and career opportunities of robot users. The training makes a significant contribution to counteracting the shortage of skilled labour in the field of robotics by qualifying and motivating more people for this profession,” says Peter Aicher.

Bechtle PLM Deutschland GmbH supports the acquisition of the robot driver’s licence. With the DELMIA software solution, participants learn how to plan, simulate and optimise their production processes.
