Promotion of European and in particular German IT security technology providers

The IT Security Association Germany (TeleTrusT) welcomes the intention to use funds from the special fund approved by the German Bundestag for the IT security sector as well. These investments should serve to protect Germany and strengthen its digital defences.

The increasing threats in cyberspace require targeted and sustainable investments in IT security. Only with a strong, independent and innovative cyber security industry can Germany secure its digital sovereignty.

It is particularly important that the financial resources not only be used to protect critical infrastructures, but also to consolidate civil, industrial and military cyber security. In this context, it is crucial to promote European and especially German IT security technology providers.

‘It is to be hoped and demanded that the funds primarily benefit innovative German and European IT security technology providers in order to strengthen digital sovereignty, as called for in the TeleTrusT position paper ‘Cyber-Nation’,’ emphasises TeleTrusT Chairman Prof. Dr. Norbert Pohlmann.

The IT security industry association and its members are committed to ensuring that the planned investments are used strategically to guarantee long-term, sustainable protection against cyber threats. TeleTrusT’s position paper on the cyber nation identifies relevant fields of action and makes appropriate recommendations: www.teletrust.de/publikationen/broschueren/cyber-nation/.
