ALTENPFLEGE 2025: Intelligent access control increases efficiency and security in care

March 4, 2025

Visitors to ALTENPFLEGE 2025 can expect to see the latest developments, products and services for inpatient and outpatient care. Salto will also be there again with its versatile access solutions (Hall 7A, Stand 109).

This year, the care trade fair in Nuremberg is focusing on topics such as sustainability, energy, digitalisation and networked living. Salto’s solutions fit perfectly into this framework, as they ensure efficient processes, comprehensive networking, more security and simple, cost-saving handling for operators and residents of care facilities.

The basis for the efficiency that is indispensable in the day-to-day running of care facilities is the end-to-end digitalisation of processes and the best possible integration of systems. With Salto, care providers benefit from the extensive integration options offered by electronic access control, which can be used to automate many daily processes and thus increase efficiency in building management. Salto solutions integrate seamlessly into management and IT systems as well as into building technology. The spectrum ranges from ERP systems for master data exchange to the integration of a laundry for automated distribution of uniforms and the connection to lighting, heating and blinds control.

In addition to the efficiency gains, costs are reduced when modern access technology is used. Nursing homes save a considerable amount of time and money if, unlike with mechanical systems, they do not have to order expensive keys or cylinders when they are lost and replace them on site. Instead, all access rights can be assigned or withdrawn at the click of a mouse. Security vulnerabilities and restrictions on convenience, as with old mechanical systems, are now a thing of the past. Even if rooms or parts of buildings are converted, all that is needed is an adjustment in the software – no work is required on the doors, and there is no need to replace cylinders.

Another major concern for care home operators is the need to issue access authorisations in the most flexible and customisable way possible. At ALTENPFLEGE in Nuremberg, Salto will be presenting its Salto Space system platform, which makes it easy to enable role-specific door access to apartments, communal areas, treatment rooms and offices, taking into account residents, care staff, medical personnel, visitors and service providers alike.

This also includes the secure storage of medical equipment, medication, files and personal valuables, as well as the documentation of their use. Salto access control therefore not only integrates doors, gates and access points, but also cabinets, for example, and logs all openings. This way, items that require special protection can be secured against unauthorised access and removed in a traceable manner.
