Solution Locks®: New generation of locks for uncompromising security and high performance

February 24, 2025

ASSA ABLOY has revised its entire range of mortise locks for wooden and sheet steel doors. The new ‘Solution Locks®’ line offers a comprehensive portfolio of solutions for use in numerous door systems. The range includes locks for basic requirements with enhanced burglary-resistant properties, panic locks and strike boxes, self-locking security locks with toggle latch technology, and a mechatronic high-security lock.

Locks with toggle latch technology set new standards

When it comes to combining sealing, burglary protection and accessibility, the security locks of the N8 series set new standards with self-locking via a tilting latch and 20 mm bolt throw. The tilt latch mechanism ensures that all forces exerted on the door by preload are compensated – whether due to gasket pressure or a warped door leaf. Regardless of the number of locking points and any thermally induced pressure differences, the ease of operation of the lever handle and cylinder is maintained. The requirements for panic and emergency exit locks according to EN 179 / EN 1125 are consistently met. The noise insulation integrated into the latch guarantees not only smooth but also particularly quiet operation. In the variants with motorised locks, the decoupled preload also facilitates a particularly fast unlocking process. From the day-operation mode, this takes less than half a second. The lock variants mentioned can also be equipped with top locking and/or a monitoring function. Due to the significantly reduced mechanical load, processors and operators also benefit from long-lasting functionality, even with increased requirements.

Wide range of single and double-leaf panic functions

The mechanical N8 security locks include solutions with panic functions B, C and E. Versions for bi-directional escape route requirements with independently inward or outward opening panic sides are also available. The electromechanical versions can be used in both stand-alone and Hi-O bus operation. As standard, three signals are already available at feedback contacts in stand-alone operation. If more extensive monitoring is required, the full range of functions can be accessed via the bus or iO modules. It is easy to switch between the two operating modes at the lock.

If double-leaf full panic door systems are to be realised in accordance with EN179 / EN1125, suitable panic strike boxes are available for this purpose. These can be operated – depending on the requirement – via the lever handle (EN179) or via a panic handle and push bar (EN1125). A motorised version is also available that can unlock a mechanical active leaf lock. This makes it possible to set whether only the active leaf should be released or the active and inactive leaves at the same time. A practical assembly tool is available in the extensive lock accessories range for particularly easy assembly of the top locking rods.

The product range for project locks has also been expanded at the bottom, for which a panic counter box is also offered – including variants with integrated ProFix® 2 electric strike (METÖ).
