The family-run security service provider KÖTTER Security has recently successfully completed certification in accordance with the European standard series DIN EN 17483 Parts 1-3 (Private Security Services – Critical Infrastructure Protection). This makes the company the only German provider to meet both the general and sector-specific requirements – including for airports and maritime shipping. At the same time as the certification according to DIN EN 17483, the audit procedure according to DIN 77200 was also carried out, which maps out the basic and extended requirements for security service providers.
Expansion of expertise in critical infrastructure protection
The certification that has been carried out strengthens the expertise of KÖTTER Security in the high-quality protection of critical infrastructures (KRITIS). The audit included all of the standards published to date in the DIN EN 17483 series:
- Part 1 – General requirements
- Part 2 – Aviation security services
- Part 3 – Maritime and port security services
In the future, the DIN EN 17483 series of standards, along with additional sector-specific supplements, will form a uniform basis for quality-oriented tenders and the design of security services. This is being done as part of the implementation of the European CER directive, which is taken into account in Germany in the KRITIS umbrella law.
Quality orientation through additional certifications
In addition to certification according to DIN EN 17483, KÖTTER Security also obtained auditing according to DIN 77200 in parts 1 and 2. While DIN 77200 part 1 regulates the fundamental requirements for security service providers, part 2 focuses on expanded requirements for companies with special security services. This dual certification not only confirms compliance with legal and normative requirements, but also sets higher standards for operational procedures, personnel recruitment and training, and the management of security-related processes.
Industry focus and strategic significance
Achieving both certifications underscores KÖTTER Security’s leading role in the security sector. The high standards according to DIN EN 17483 and DIN 77200 position the service provider as a reliable partner in the protection of critical infrastructures – an aspect that is of central importance in particular for security-sensitive areas such as airports and seaports. Investing in the continuous professional development of employees and developing innovative security solutions is considered an essential factor in sustainably meeting the increasing requirements in the critical infrastructure sector.
Friedrich P. Kötter, Chairman of the Board of Directors, praised the success of the certifications with the words:
‘These certifications underscore our leading role in the security sector and confirm the high quality of our services. Continuous investment in the qualifications of our employees and the development of innovative solutions are essential to meet the increasing demands in the area of critical infrastructure protection.’
Outlook and market relevance
The successful multiple certification represents another milestone in the company’s history and strengthens customer confidence in the customised security solutions from KÖTTER Security. The comprehensive certification according to DIN EN 17483 and the additional auditing according to DIN 77200 mark an important step towards a uniform, quality-oriented design of security services in Europe. This further emphasises the strategic importance of a high level of security in critical infrastructure areas – a decisive factor for long-term stability and efficiency in security-related areas.
The latest certifications make a significant contribution to consolidating KÖTTER Security’s position as a leading provider in the security sector and to further advancing the implementation of current European security standards.
