- The Australian Defence Force will use C4is VOICE C2 Multidomain communication
- C4i delivers modern, sovereign voice communication systems that can be integrated with command networks to support secure multi-domain defence operations
Frequentis C4i has been contracted to deliver state-of-the-art multi-domain communication systems for the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) AIR6500 Joint Air Battle Management System since 2024. C4i’s partnership with Lockheed Martin Australia represents an important milestone in the continued collaboration between the companies. Under the contract, C4i is developing sovereign voice communication systems with a built-in intuitive human-machine interface that will be integrated into the joint air battle management C2 networks.
The AIR6500 programme is a key element of the ADF’s national security strategy and enhances capabilities in the air, on land, at sea, in cyberspace and in space. Frequentis’ innovative C4i technology will serve as the backbone of this effort by providing secure, real-time communication that is critical for joint military operations.
‘By integrating our advanced hardware and software solutions, we are improving the military’s ability to communicate securely and effectively across all domains. This capability is essential to respond rapidly to threats, especially in challenging environments,’ said Darren Gardner, Managing Director of Frequentis C4i. ‘Lockheed Martin is actively introducing Australia’s next-generation air battle management technology to the world stage, positioning C4i technology as a key element in international defence initiatives. As an SME in Australia, we are proud to contribute to a major Australian defence programme, which adds highly skilled engineers to our team every year.’
In addition to strengthening Australia’s defence, this collaboration will create new export opportunities for C4i to participate in global defence projects. Lockheed Martin Australia is drawing on the best of Australia’s industry to deliver AIR6500. AIR6500 has the potential to capture the global integrated air and missile defence market, which is estimated to be worth A$83 billion (approximately €48 billion).
‘We are pleased to be working with C4i to integrate innovative voice communication technologies into AIR6500,’ said Rob Milligan, AIR6500 programme director at Lockheed Martin Australia. ’C4i brings a wealth of experience to AIR6500. Their robust and secure technologies are well established and in operation in defence, government and industry in over 40 countries. This partner integration will enhance the ADF’s ability to respond effectively in high-pressure situations.’
C4i’s scalable and rapidly deployable communication systems will strengthen key military alliances and ensure seamless cooperation in joint operations. This highly mobile solution enables defence personnel to quickly establish joint operations centres by providing a robust communication infrastructure for coordinated responses in complex scenarios.
