Security and building technology: Bosch focuses on innovation and efficiency

February 3, 2025

In fiscal 2024, Bosch has made important strategic decisions in the areas of security and building technology. The company plans to further strengthen its position in these markets by making targeted portfolio adjustments and investing in future technologies.

Strategic realignment in the area of building technologies

Bosch is realigning its Building Technologies division by selling off large parts of its security and communication technology product business. In the future, the division will focus more closely on system integration, enabling it to offer its customers comprehensive security solutions. This realignment is not only intended to increase competitiveness, but also to open up growth opportunities in the areas of connected buildings and intelligent security solutions.

Sustainable building technology as a growth factor

Bosch is investing more in sustainable and energy-efficient building technologies. The planned acquisition of the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning business of Johnson Controls and Hitachi, worth around eight billion US dollars, underlines this strategy. With this acquisition, Bosch aims to further expand its market position in the US and Asia.

AI and digital solutions for greater security

Artificial intelligence plays a central role in Bosch security solutions. For example, a new AI-based emergency call service for elevator users has been developed that can translate calls for help into the user’s native language in real time – without the need for costly elevator modifications. Bosch is also increasingly relying on intelligent software solutions to improve security in buildings while reducing operating costs.

Outlook: focus on efficiency and digitalisation

In the years ahead, Bosch will be focusing on expanding digital and AI-based security and building technologies. Intelligent networking and automation will make buildings safer and more efficient. At the same time, the company is driving forward the integration of sustainable energy solutions to meet the growing demand for environmentally friendly buildings.

With these measures, Bosch is positioning itself as a leading provider of smart and secure building solutions and is driving forward digitalisation and sustainability in this area.
