The street carnival is just around the corner – a festival of joy, exuberance and togetherness. But while thousands of people want to celebrate carefree, a deadly threat lurks in the shadows: Islamist terrorists are calling for cars to be driven into crowds, killing indiscriminately. Heiko Teggatz of the police union speaks of a ‘very real threat’ – and he is right. But the question is: will the government finally take action or just spout more empty words?
Data protection must not become a terrorist weapon
Terrorists have long since ceased to operate in secret. Their calls for mass murder are freely available on the internet for everyone to see – and yet the security authorities are often powerless because their hands are tied. Data protection, which is actually supposed to protect citizens, is becoming a protective shield for terrorists. It is unacceptable that investigators repeatedly run into a brick wall while Islamist agitators prepare attacks undisturbed. The demand for more powers is no longer an option – it is a necessity!
No false tolerance: those who incite hatred must be expelled!
The perfidious methods of Islamist pied pipers show that there is a problem in Germany that has been ignored for far too long: parallel societies in which hatred is preached and violence is sold as a legitimate means. Those who live here and trample on this state must be consistently prosecuted and – if possible – deported. Germany must not be a safe haven for terrorist supporters!
Enough naivety – now is the time for consistency!
It is high time for clear messages: those who plan or incite attacks must be punished more severely, online propaganda must be deleted more quickly, and terrorist networks must be broken up more consistently. The carnival is just one example – the danger is everywhere. Do we really want to wait until people die again before we act?
The time for looking the other way is over. If we don’t take action now, we’re complicit in what happens next!
