ADT launches modular DIY security system with app platform

June 1, 2026

US security provider ADT is expanding its range for the residential market and has unveiled ADT Blu, a self-installable security system. The modular solution is aimed at households that wish to set up their own security and smart home systems and expand them flexibly.

The system can be installed in a matter of minutes and managed entirely via the ADT+ app. Users can arm and disarm the system, receive notifications, view live video feeds, utilise AI-based video features and communicate via connected cameras.

According to the company, ADT Blu is designed to bridge the gap between traditional DIY camera systems and professional security solutions. Unlike many camera-only solutions, the system is based on an integrated security platform that can be gradually expanded with additional sensors and devices.

A key feature is the flexibility in monitoring. Customers can monitor their system themselves or, if required, activate ADT’s professional 24/7 emergency call and control centre monitoring. Long-term contracts are not required.

The platform has been designed so that the system can evolve in line with users’ requirements. Additional cameras, sensors or other security components can be integrated and managed centrally via the app.

With ADT Blu, the company is responding to the growing demand for easy-to-install security solutions and connected smart home systems. The range includes individual cameras from €65 as well as various system packages priced between €240 and €380.

From ADT’s perspective, the new platform combines the flexibility of a DIY system with the expertise of an established security provider, offering private users an easy introduction to modern, scalable security solutions.
