Gartner forecasts further global growth to more than $2 trillion in 2026

According to a new study by US research firm Gartner (https://www.gartner.com), global spending on artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to reach nearly $1.5 trillion by the end of the year. “We expect to see continued expansion of investment in AI infrastructure,” comments John-David Lovelock, Distinguished VP Analyst at Gartner.

“Hyperscalers” dominate

According to the analysis, so-called “hyperscalers” in particular continue to invest heavily in data centers with AI-optimized hardware and GPUs in order to expand their services on a large scale. AI in smartphones and PCs, as well as the underlying infrastructure, are driving forces.

“The investment landscape in AI has long since moved beyond the traditional US technology giants. Chinese companies and new providers of AI cloud services are also increasingly entering the market,” predicts Lovelock.

But the continued commitment of venture capitalists to AI companies is also giving global AI spending an additional boost, it says. Gartner predicts that global AI spending will exceed the two billion dollar mark by 2026.
