Almost 290,000 people employed in the private security industry

January 16, 2025

The latest figures from the Federal Statistical Office show that the private security industry in Germany continues to grow. With a current total of 289,509 employees, the industry has become an important service sector.

Last year, the industry saw a further increase in the number of people employed, with around 5,000 new jobs created, reflecting the ever-increasing need for security in many areas of society. This figure not only illustrates the growth of the industry, but also the growing importance of security in both the private and public sectors.

From property security to event protection and technological innovations, the industry offers a wide range of jobs. Particularly noteworthy is the trend towards digital security and smart security solutions, which require more and more skilled workers. In view of the ongoing digitalisation and the increasing challenges in the area of public security, it is expected that the demand for skilled workers in the security industry will continue to grow.

This development once again shows how important the contribution of the private security industry is for the stability and protection of our society.
