ASSA ABLOY acquires Kentix GmbH

October 16, 2025

Swedish security group ASSA ABLOY has announced the acquisition of Kentix GmbH, a German provider of IoT and digital security solutions for data centres. This move strengthens ASSA ABLOY’s position in the growing market for connected security solutions and expands its portfolio in the field of digital access and surveillance technologies.

Kentix will remain active at its location in Idar-Oberstein and retain its existing corporate culture – agile, technology-driven and customer-focused. Integration into the global group will make Kentix’s innovative products and solutions available on a larger scale in the future.

Thomas Fritz, Managing Director of Kentix, comments on the acquisition: ‘Together with ASSA ABLOY, we are combining our strengths to offer our customers even more comprehensive security solutions and tap into new markets. This step opens up numerous opportunities for our employees and partners.’

Market observers see the acquisition as a strategic move by ASSA ABLOY to further expand its range of networked security and IoT solutions and benefit from the growing demand for digitalised security infrastructures.

The merger opens up new opportunities for Kentix in an international environment: with access to global markets, expanded resources and ASSA ABLOY’s strong sales network, Kentix will be able to offer its innovative solutions in an even more targeted and broader manner in the future.

Managing Director Thomas Fritz sees the integration as an important step towards the future and sustainable growth:

‘There are already strong similarities between Kentix and ASSA ABLOY. The integration will open up new markets and additional sales opportunities for us within the global group. As part of ASSA ABLOY, we can combine the strengths of both companies and offer our customers even more comprehensive solutions in the future. At the same time, we are creating additional resources and development opportunities for our employees in the long term.’

ASSA ABLOY also sees the acquisition as a strategically important step in expanding its product portfolio in the field of digital security solutions for data centre applications.

Achim Haberstock, SVP & Head of Central Europe at ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions EMEIA, emphasises:

‘We are delighted to welcome Kentix to our team. Kentix stands for technological excellence, agility and outstanding customer solutions – these are precisely the strengths we want to preserve and scale in a targeted manner.’

David Moser, SVP & Head of Digital and Access Solutions at ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions EMEIA, adds:

‘With the acquisition of Kentix, ASSA ABLOY is strengthening its product portfolio in the field of digital security solutions for data centre applications – both in Germany and throughout the EMEIA region.’

With an expanded management structure and the existing team, Kentix remains on course for growth and continues the successful development of recent years. Nothing will change for employees – the location in Idar-Oberstein will remain unchanged.
