ASSA ABLOY acquires Portuguese locking solutions specialist Santos

ASSA ABLOY has acquired Santos, a leading Portuguese manufacturer of mechanical locking solutions. Founded in 1948 and headquartered in Águeda, Santos employs more than 140 people and generated approximately €9.3 million in sales in 2025, with a strong EBIT margin.

The acquisition strengthens ASSA ABLOY’s portfolio of mechanical locking solutions while expanding its presence in Portugal and the wider region. According to the company, the transaction is expected to be accretive to earnings per share (EPS) from day one.

Neil Vann, Executive Vice President and Head of the EMEIA Division, said the acquisition supports ASSA ABLOY’s strategy of strengthening its position in mature markets by adding complementary products and solutions. João Carmo, Vice President and Head of ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions Portugal, added that Santos will help expand the company’s mechanical product portfolio and reinforce its regional footprint.
