Axis Communications launches first multi-directional cameras with remote PTRZ function

March 27, 2025

Axis Communications has added two multi-directional cameras to its portfolio that are ideal for large outdoor areas. These discreet cameras provide 360° coverage for security in four different areas – 24/7 and even in complex lighting conditions. Another new feature is that the two cameras can be moved and adjusted remotely, which makes installation easy.

The AXIS P3747-PLVE Panoramic Camera has four channels with 5 megapixels each, while the AXIS P3748-PLVE Panoramic Camera offers four channels with 8 megapixels each. Both cameras provide clear images at long range. They feature day/night functionality and 360° infrared illumination to provide clear images in low light or darkness, as well as undistorted colours in daylight. Forensic WDR ensures clarity when both light and dark areas are present in the image.

Thanks to the advanced tilt function, all four sensors can be fully tilted. In addition, the PTRZ (pan, tilt, roll, zoom) function means that the camera does not have to be physically moved. The camera can be remotely moved and adjusted, making installation quick and easy. This results in fewer interruptions and downtime, and reduces the need to send a technician on site.

These AI-powered cameras feature a Deep Learning Processing Unit (DLPU) that enables powerful analytics at the edge. For example, AXIS Object Analytics is pre-installed to detect, classify, track, and count people and vehicles. This DLPU also provides valuable metadata that enables quick, easy, and efficient forensic searches in live or recorded video.

Key features include:

  • 4 channels at up to 8 MP per channel
  • Remote pan, tilt, rotate and zoom (PTRZ)
  • Support for powerful analytics
  • 360° IR illumination with individually controllable LEDs
  • Built-in cyber security with Axis Edge Vault

These high-performance cameras are equipped with Axis Edge Vault, a hardware-based cybersecurity platform that protects the device and sensitive information from unauthorised access. In addition, they offer secure storage and processing of cryptographic keys, which is certified to FIPS 140-2 Level 2.

These cameras are available now through Axis’ distribution channels. For more information about the two multi-directional panoramic cameras, visit here for AXIS P3747-PLVE and here for AXIS P3748-PLVE.
