Axis Communications has launched a new explosion-proof network camera, the AXIS X1100 Explosion-Protected PTZ Camera. The solution has been specifically developed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres and is certified to ATEX, IECEx and NRTL (SGS) standards for Zone 1 and Division 1 environments.
The PTZ camera is particularly aimed at industrial plants, energy suppliers, chemical and petrochemical facilities, and other critical infrastructure where the highest standards of safety and surveillance apply. With its 4K resolution and 31x optical zoom, it enables detailed surveillance of large areas and the early detection of potential hazards.
A key feature of the AXIS X1100 is its integrated video-based smoke and fire detection. This enables the identification of early signs of a fire in sensitive or highly flammable environments before critical situations develop.
The camera is based on Axis’ latest ARTPEC-9 platform and supports the AV1 codec for efficient video compression. Furthermore, the hardware offers sufficient processing power for AI-powered analytics directly at the edge. For example, Axis Object Analytics can detect people in restricted areas or help ensure compliance with safety regulations such as the wearing of safety helmets.
For use in extreme conditions, the AXIS X1100 features a housing made of corrosion-resistant, marine-grade stainless steel (316L). The robust design is rated for temperatures ranging from -60 °C to +60 °C, making it suitable for particularly demanding outdoor applications.
With the new AXIS X1100, Axis is expanding its portfolio for potentially explosive atmospheres, combining high-resolution image quality, advanced analytics and a rugged industrial design in a single surveillance solution.
