- Intelligent video surveillance for 42 live gaming tables and over 300 slot machines
- Grand Sapphire Casino relies on Dallmeier system architecture
With the opening of the casino, the security managers at Grand Sapphire Resort were faced with the task of establishing a modern casino security solution that would ensure both the protection of guests and smooth gaming operations. ‘Our goal was to create a casino experience of the highest standard – this includes a security concept that combines quality, data protection and efficiency,’ explains Bayram Tegay, General Manager at Grand Sapphire. A key requirement was the complete monitoring of the gaming areas, especially the live game tables – without interfering with ongoing operations. At the same time, it was necessary to ensure a particularly high level of data protection. ‘In Northern Cyprus, casinos are subject to particularly strict compliance requirements,’ explains Yücel Çalişkan, Surveillance Manager at the casino. ‘Our department works completely separately from the rest of the organisation. Protecting sensitive data is not an option for us, but the basis of our work.’
Holistic surveillance concept with planning reliability
The decision was made in favour of a comprehensive video surveillance solution from Dallmeier, planned and implemented by Dallmeier Türkiye. The individually tailored security concept was visualised and pre-planned using the 3D camera planning tool PlanD. ‘PlanD gave the customer 100% planning reliability,’ says Orhan Yörükoğlu, Director of Dallmeier Türkiye A.Ş. ‘Those responsible were able to see in advance exactly which camera covers which area and the overall scope of the project. This was extremely helpful in the decision-making process.’
Precision from a height of 8 metres
All cameras were installed on the ceiling at a height of around eight metres – a challenge that was masterfully overcome by selecting high-resolution cameras with suitable optics. PTZ and dome cameras from Dallmeier ensure seamless surveillance of the 42 live game tables, slot areas and entrances. A Panomera® S8 multifocal sensor system is used to provide an overview of the entire gaming area. Thanks to its unique lens technology, the Panomera® provides a complete overview of the action on the casino floor – while also allowing operators to zoom in on every detail.
In the central control room, four operators work per shift on three 27-inch screens each, with 18 large-screen monitors providing an overview of the entire area. Recording is carried out redundantly via IPS 10000 NVR systems. The entire system is managed via the Hemisphere® VMS video management system, which is operated on four VMC Touch workstations. ONVIF-compatible cameras from third-party suppliers are used for non-public areas. Their data is also managed entirely via the Dallmeier system – thanks to the openness of Hemisphere® VMS for third-party systems.
Face recognition for prevention
Another special feature is the connection to a Corsight face recognition system, which is operated on the dome cameras. The system automatically recognises banned individuals when they enter the casino and informs both the reception staff and the security team in real time. ‘This feature not only helps us enforce bans, but also improves guests’ sense of security,’ says Çalişkan. ‘We receive a notification within seconds if a banned individual attempts to enter the casino.’
24/7 security and rapid incident resolution
Even though the casino is only open from 12:00 noon to 6:00 a.m., the surveillance system runs around the clock – even at night and during closing hours. This ensures that potential dangers such as break-ins or sabotage outside of regular operating hours are reliably detected. In day-to-day operations, the solution particularly supports the rapid resolution of gaming conflicts – for example, in the event of misunderstandings between dealers and guests.
Data protection and network security at the highest level
The entire operation takes place in a completely closed network – without interfaces to other systems, without cloud connectivity, without mobile access. This architecture reliably protects sensitive data and complies with all regulatory requirements.
Strict guidelines apply within the organisation: surveillance employees have no contact with other departments. This structure underlines the high importance of data protection in the casino environment of Northern Cyprus.
Future-proof: AI enhancements planned
The current system architecture allows for the seamless integration of future functions. AI-supported applications and video analysis (VCA) can be added at any time as required.
Conclusion: Security meets convenience
With the Dallmeier solution, the Grand Sapphire has a state-of-the-art surveillance system that not only meets the highest security requirements, but also provides efficient support in daily operations.
Casino manager Bayram Tegay is satisfied: ‘The image quality, response speed and support convinced us. It was the right decision for us. Thanks to Dallmeier, we can make informed decisions at any time – quickly, reliably and based on high-quality data.’
