Cloudian and CTERA Form Strategic Partnership to Unify Data Management from Edge to Cloud

November 5, 2025

Cloudian, a leading provider of S3-compatible object storage solutions, and CTERA, a specialist in intelligent data management, have announced a global strategic partnership aimed at simplifying enterprise data management across distributed environments. The collaboration combines Cloudian’s scalable HyperStore object storage with the CTERA Intelligent Data Platform, delivering a unified solution for managing data from the edge to the cloud.

Unified, Intelligent Data Management

The partnership addresses a growing need among enterprises to seamlessly integrate remote data services with scalable, central storage repositories in their own data centres. Through the integration, Cloudian customers gain access to distributed enterprise data services via CTERA’s proven platform, while CTERA users benefit from Cloudian’s exabyte-scale, S3-compatible storage foundation.

At the edge, CTERA Edge Filers provide LAN-speed caching for high-performance local access to centrally stored files, while the CTERA Portal enables unified management of thousands of distributed storage endpoints. The system supports standard SMB and NFS protocols and integrates with Active Directory for streamlined user management.

Cloudian’s HyperStore provides the secure, scalable storage layer for this architecture. The software-defined platform runs on standard hardware, offering government-certified security, end-to-end encryption, and up to 70% lower total cost of ownership compared to traditional storage systems.

Technical Advantages

  • Unified data management: Integrated control of file and object data across platforms – without silos and with reduced operating costs.
  • Intelligent caching: CTERA Edge Filers store frequently used data locally while maintaining a global namespace for consistent access.
  • Centrally scalable storage: Cloudian HyperStore scales seamlessly into the exabyte range, removing infrastructure limitations.
  • Enhanced security: Both platforms include comprehensive certifications, encryption, and ransomware protection.
  • Global data distribution: Policy-based data placement and automated replication across sites ensure availability and business continuity.

Strategic and Market Impact

The combined Cloudian–CTERA solution supports key enterprise priorities such as data sovereignty, cyber resilience, and global collaboration. It enables organisations to implement a holistic, intelligent data strategy that balances local performance with centralised governance and rapid recovery capabilities.

“This partnership marks a major milestone in the evolution of distributed storage architectures,” said Mike Canavan, Vice President of Worldwide Sales at Cloudian. “By combining our object storage platform with CTERA’s enterprise data services, we are delivering the unified data management solution that modern businesses are asking for. Our joint customers gain an intelligent, scalable data fabric that ensures sovereignty and enables secure global collaboration.”

Michael Amselem, Chief Revenue Officer at CTERA, added: “Working with Cloudian enhances our ability to deliver a truly comprehensive data fabric for global enterprises. Cloudian’s HyperStore provides our customers with the scalable, secure central repository they need to support distributed environments. Together, we empower organisations to modernise IT strategies while safeguarding their most valuable asset – their data.”

Availability

The global reseller agreement between Cloudian and CTERA takes effect immediately. The integrated solutions are available worldwide through both companies’ established channel networks, with coordinated technical support for joint deployments.
