Rapid electrification, the expansion of renewable energies and the increasing spread of megatrends such as electromobility are creating business potential around the globe, particularly for the electrical industry. The United States of America in particular remains an exciting market for this reason and also due to extensive investment programmes by the government there. To make the most of the opportunities in this region, DEHN is acquiring parts of ABB’s surge protection business in the USA. ‘Our international growth is central to the continued positive development of our company,’ says Dr Philipp Dehn, CEO of DEHN SE. ‘The US market offers us a number of attractive business opportunities, which we can now address even faster and more broadly with the expertise and excellent market position of the Current Technology and Joslyn brands.’

DEHN intensifies its commitment in the United States. In spring 2024, the subsidiary DEHN, Inc. moved into new headquarters in Mooresville, North Carolina. From there, the further development of the business in the country and the region will be driven forward in future and in-house production for the American market will be established.

In this context, the current acquisition acts as an additional catalyst for DEHN’s endeavours in the USA.

Both Current Technology and Joslyn are well-established and respected brands in the US market and have operated under the ABB umbrella to date. In addition to the corresponding product portfolio including IP, the acquisition also includes a dense network of long-established sales partners in the United States.

Both parties have agreed not to disclose the financial details of the acquisition. The transaction is expected to be finalised in the first quarter of 2025. From this point onwards, the surge protection products of Current Technology and Joslyn will be manufactured and distributed by the existing subsidiary DEHN, Inc.
