Development plan for FRA6 data centre campus in Nierstein comes into force

January 29, 2026

A key milestone has been reached for the planned FRA6 data centre campus by NTT DATA in Nierstein: the development plan is now legally binding. Following the unanimous decision by the city council on 10 December 2025, the plan was officially announced and thus came into force. The project is now entering the next phase of implementation.

The FRA6 campus is designed with a planned IT capacity of 482 megawatts and, once completed, will be one of the largest data centre locations in Europe. The project is expected to make a significant contribution to European digital infrastructure while promoting regional value creation and sustainable innovation.

This progress is the result of close and constructive cooperation between NTT DATA, local stakeholders, district and state authorities, and the commitment of numerous project participants. With planning permission now secured, the conditions are in place to continue developing the project as planned.

With FRA6, NTT DATA is pursuing its goal of realising a flagship project for responsible and sustainable digital infrastructure in Europe – with a focus on scalability, efficiency and long-term location development.
