Dormakaba acquires Avant-Garde Systems in the United States

January 6, 2026

Access and security group Dormakaba is further expanding its presence in North America. The company has signed a binding agreement to acquire Avant-Garde Systems Inc., one of the largest independent providers of control solutions for access and entry systems in the United States. With this acquisition, Dormakaba is specifically strengthening its market position in the field of access automation. Avant-Garde Systems was founded in 2015 and is headquartered in Clarksville, Indiana.

The company sees itself as a ‘one-stop shop’ for entrance system controls and covers the entire value chain – from consulting and product selection to installation, service and support throughout the entire life cycle of the systems.

Avant-Garde’s solutions complement Dormakaba’s existing portfolio, particularly in strategically important growth segments. These include data centres, airports and nationwide system integrators. By expanding its direct business, Dormakaba aims to deepen its expertise in the field of entrance systems control and tap into additional growth potential in the North American market.

Till Reuter, CEO of Dormakaba, describes the acquisition as an important step for further expansion: ‘We are delighted to welcome the Avant-Garde team to our group. This acquisition is a key component in the implementation of our growth plan in North America. It strengthens our expertise in entrance systems control, supports our high-margin business and improves our positioning in the key verticals of airports and data centres.’

According to the company, the acquisition will have a positive effect on earnings per share from day one. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price or other financial details. The transaction is expected to close in early January 2026.
