Essen Explosion Protection Days in September 2025

September 9, 2025

On 16 and 17 September 2025, experts from industry, research and associations will meet again for the 19th Essen Explosion Protection Days. Germany’s oldest technical training institute, the HDT, invites you to a practical industry meeting that once again focuses on high professional competence, valuable networking opportunities and practical ideas. The 19th Essen Explosion Protection Days once again promise a varied programme with presentations from universities, manufacturers, representatives of a professional association and an energy group. The topics range from current research results and practical developments to concrete examples of implementation in everyday working life. ‘One focus is on the practical implementation of explosion protection measures,’ explains HDT department head Dipl.-Ing. Kai Brommann. This time, the agenda includes the safe handling of explosives in the laboratory, risk assessment for nano-dusts, the simulation of explosion sequences and the development of a dummy for evaluating protection and threat scenarios.

In addition to the presentations, the format offers ample opportunity for interaction and exchange. After each presentation, participants can ask questions and share experiences, and both days of the event conclude with panel discussions that delve deeper into the most important topics. A vivid practical demonstration of explosion protection highlights the dangers in everyday working life and illustrates how technical measures can contribute to safety. The programme is supplemented by legal insights that provide information on rights, obligations and legal requirements in explosion protection. The first day of the event ends with a get-together including dinner in a pleasant atmosphere. This networking highlight provides an opportunity to make contacts, exchange experiences and explore opportunities for cooperation – a key added value for all participants.
