Genetec integrates audio communication into Security Center SaaS

New feature combines intercom and SIP-based audio functions with video and access control in a single platform

Genetec Inc., a provider of enterprise physical security solutions, is expanding its cloud-native platform Security Center SaaS with audio communication functions. With this innovation, security managers can now integrate intercom and SIP-based audio functions directly into the existing integrated environment for video surveillance, access control, and intrusion detection.

The expansion enables security and facility teams in industries such as education, retail, and healthcare to significantly improve situational awareness and response times. Real-time audio communication directly in the security dashboard allows for quick and targeted action in the event of incidents: identity checks at access points, direct communication with individuals, and immediate response—without switching systems or additional administrative effort.

Christian Morin, Vice President of Product Engineering at Genetec, explains:

“Our goal is to offer our customers the same flexibility for audio that they are already accustomed to with video and access control. Users can choose the intercom devices that best suit their needs and manage them in a single, cloud-native platform.”

The new feature scales from small installations to thousands of intercoms in large facilities. Thanks to the open architecture, companies can start with minimal investment and expand quickly as needed. Intercom devices from Axis are supported at launch, with other manufacturers to follow in future updates.

Fredrik Nilsson, VP Americas at Axis Communications, comments:

“The native integration of Axis intercoms into Security Center SaaS provides a highly efficient communication solution without the complexity of separate systems. Security managers can operate intercoms directly in the platform, which also handles video surveillance, access control, event automation, and data analysis.”

Genetec places particular emphasis on cybersecurity and data protection: audio content is transmitted in encrypted form, just like video and access data. Complete audit trails ensure traceability, and regular security updates keep the system protected against new threats.

The Communications for Security Center SaaS feature will be available worldwide through the Genetec partner network starting in September 2025. [https://www.genetec.com/product-releases/communications-for-security-center-saas]
