With the statewide introduction of the police operations app resQnect, the Saxony-Anhalt State Police is taking another step towards the digital modernisation of police work. The app, developed for service smartphones, optimises communication between emergency services and control centres and supports real-time operational command.
Mobile networking as a core function
resQnect is a mobile solution developed specifically for the BOS sector (authorities and organisations with security tasks), including the police, fire brigade and rescue services. The aim is to make information and communication processes during operations more efficient and to improve cooperation between patrol officers and situation centres. The app gives emergency services access to relevant information at all times and enables them to exchange it securely – a crucial factor for quick and informed decisions, especially in dynamic operational situations.
Home Secretary Dr Tamara Zieschang emphasises the importance of the app: “Police work is changing rapidly. In addition to well-trained emergency services personnel, it needs digital operational support above all else. “resQnect” simplifies communication, improves the overview of operations and optimises cooperation.”
Practical development and pilot phase
The app was developed by eurofunk Kappacher GmbH in close cooperation with practitioners from the BOS sector in order to make it practical and user-friendly. The pilot phase took place from 3 to 30 November 2025 at the Dessau-Roßlau police station. The functionality was tested under real operational conditions, particularly in the areas of communication, information management and coordination.
The test phase showed that resQnect significantly facilitates the performance of tasks in patrol and emergency services. Feedback from the pilot phase is being incorporated into the further development of the app in order to further improve its functionality and user-friendliness.
Integration into existing IT structures
resQnect is part of the comprehensive IT and digital strategy of the Saxony-Anhalt State Police. The app can be used directly on the displays of emergency vehicles via Apple CarPlay, thus continuing the concept of the ‘interactive patrol car’.
The state police currently have over 6,300 service smartphones at their disposal, of which around 2,500 are used in patrol duty with resQnect. The app serves as a central tool for connecting emergency services with situation and command centres and significantly supports the efficiency, overview and responsiveness of the police.
Conclusion
The introduction of resQnect illustrates the consistent digitalisation of police work in Saxony-Anhalt. With practical development, piloting and integration into existing systems, the operational capability of the police is strengthened, communication is improved and the coordination of operations in dynamic situations is optimised. The app thus represents a significant contribution to the modernisation of the security infrastructure and marks an important step towards digitally supported police operations.
