Multifunctional display speakers combine visual and acoustic communication for the first time in the Axis portfolio

Axis Communications, a technology leader in network video, is launching the AXIS C17 Network Display Speaker Series, a new series of multifunctional display speakers. These offer a combination of visual and acoustic alerts for increased security, burglary protection, operational efficiency or a pleasant atmosphere. The new models are particularly suitable for indoor use in schools, healthcare facilities or passageways in logistics centres and similar scenarios.

The new C17 series currently comprises two models – the AXIS C1710 Network Display Speaker, ideal for wall mounting, and the double-sided AXIS C1720 Network Display Speaker, which is particularly suitable for installation in corridors. Both combine visual and acoustic communication in a single, powerful device: A striking strobe light attracts immediate attention, a loudspeaker delivers clear voice reproduction even in noisy environments, and an easy-to-read colour display shows text information that automatically adjusts to the lighting conditions.

This combination enables planned and ad hoc announcements and texts, as well as efficient background sound reinforcement. Full-duplex two-way audio with echo cancellation also enables interactive conversations with people on site in real time. Integrated digital signal processing also guarantees high sound quality, even in acoustically challenging environments. Content prioritisation also ensures that safety-related messages always take precedence over scheduled, regular audio output.

The functions – audio, display text and strobe – can be used individually or flexibly combined with each other. For example, a static text display can be read aloud automatically or a discreet alarm can be triggered visually. The colour text display automatically adjusts its brightness to the ambient lighting and offers a flexibly adjustable text size for optimum readability – even from a distance. In addition, the strobe can be individually configured: colour and light patterns can be adjusted depending on the application to attract attention or visually mark different events.

Easy to integrate and install

The AXIS C17 series is fully compatible with AXIS Audio Manager Pro, a powerful audio management software for managing enterprise-wide, location-independent audio systems. Based on open standards, the C17 series can also be seamlessly integrated into existing Axis systems, such as cameras, or third-party public address solutions.

The new display speakers also offer simple, quick and secure installation. The AXIS C1710 comes with a wall mount, while separate wall and ceiling mounts are available for the AXIS C1720. Once the respective mount is attached to the installation site, the device can be hooked in, leaving the installer with both hands free to connect the PoE cable and securely tighten the screws.

‘With the AXIS C17 series, we are taking audiovisual communication to a new level. The powerful 3-in-1 speaker systems, which combine speakers, text display and strobe, ensure that important messages reach more people,’ says Benjamin Körner, Architect & Engineering Manager at Axis Communications. ‘Every second counts when it comes to clear communication, especially in schools, healthcare facilities, transport hubs and logistics centres. The new C17 series ensures that safety-related information is always communicated clearly, reliably and appropriately for the situation.’

The most important features of the AXIS C17 Network Display Speaker Series at a glance:

  • Three-way communication via loudspeaker, text display and strobe light
  • Two-way audio
  • Remote health monitoring of the system
  • Prioritisation and zone assignment of audio content
  • Flexible integration and scalability, as well as easy installation

The AXIS C17 Network Display Speaker Series was awarded the prestigious Best of Show Award for outstanding AV technology and thus for innovation and the highest technical quality at InfoComm 2025 in Las Vegas. The AXIS C1710 model also received the Secure Campus Award 2025, presented by the US trade magazine Campus Security Today.

The AXIS C17 Network Display Speaker is available now.
