‘We deliver security’ – Bavaria’s Minister of the Interior Joachim Herrmann opens new police logistics centre: Great investment for the Bavarian Police and sustainable strengthening for Hof.

+++ “A great investment for the supply of the Bavarian Police and a sustainable strengthening of the Hof region.” With these words, Bavaria’s Minister of the Interior Joachim Herrmann praised the new Bavarian Police Logistics Centre (LZBP) at its opening today. The LZBP will gradually be expanded to become the central service point for centralised procurement within the Bavarian Police. “In this way, supply bottlenecks can be reduced or prevented altogether in the future.” Hermann emphasised that the bundling should make procurement procedures more effective and efficient. In addition, he said, the concentration of expertise will allow for greater specialisation in procurement management. “In line with its motto: ‘We deliver security’, the LZBP will in future procure everything the police need for their daily operations – from paper clips to helicopters,” the Minister emphasised. +++

The LZBP will start in an interim rented building with 14 employees in the first set-up phase and will gradually grow in personnel as it takes over its tasks. In the coming years, the tasks of the 13 purchasing and procurement offices of the respective police headquarters, the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office and the Bavarian Police Administration Office will gradually be bundled in a joint central logistics centre. For the planned construction of a logistics warehouse for the future supply of uniforms, the search is also underway for a suitable site or an existing property in and around Hof. In the future, the LZBP will also replace the Lower Saxony Logistics Centre as the central procurer of service and special clothing for the Bavarian Police and the Bavarian Judiciary. “Uniform supply is going back into Bavarian hands,” Herrmann said. In the final stage of construction, the LZBP will be a state-of-the-art logistics centre with up to 200 employees, according to Herrmann.
