HID is expanding its security portfolio with Seos Bamboo. The new ID cards are not made from PVC, but from sustainably sourced bamboo wood. They are part of HID’s Seos security solution and the first in the new Eco-Card range for physical access control.
Bamboo is a renewable resource that grows quickly and uses less water than traditional card materials. Its low need for pesticides makes the natural raw material particularly environmentally friendly. The wood for the new Seos Bamboo ID cards is also certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC). Through its certification, the organisation guarantees that the material for the cards comes from forests that are managed in an ecologically, socially and economically responsible manner.
Current market reports reveal the special role that sustainability and climate awareness play in the economy. HID’s State of Security and Identity Report also shows that many organisations prioritise these issues. For this reason, they rely on renewable and environmentally friendly raw materials in all areas, as far as possible. The goal is to drastically reduce their energy consumption and the amount of waste.
With the introduction of Seos Bamboo, the highly secure ID cards made of bamboo wood, HID is helping organisations to become more sustainable. In addition, the company is using them to underline its capacity for innovation, where security and customer experience do not fall by the wayside. Seos bamboo cards also help organisations achieve green building certifications – including the internationally recognised Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) and Zero Waste to Landfill certifications.
