SECIRA©: Smart solutions for municipal utilities

Introduction

Increasing cyber threats such as ransomware attacks and targeted phishing attacks pose significant challenges for municipal utilities and the entire energy industry. To effectively counter these risks, Informatik Consulting Systems GmbH (ICS GmbH) is presenting its proven risk management platform SECIRA© at E-world energy & water 2025.

E-world energy & water 2025: innovation platform for the energy industry

E-world energy & water 2025, one of the most important trade fairs for the energy industry, will take place in Essen from 11 to 13 February 2025. Trade visitors from the energy supply, municipal utilities, industry and service sectors will have the opportunity to discover the latest technologies and trends in the industry. In addition to presenting current cyber threats and corresponding protection strategies, innovative solutions such as SECIRA© will be presented. The trade fair also offers a platform for exchanging ideas with industry experts and discussing regulatory developments. Best practices of leading companies will also be discussed.

SECIRA©: automated risk management for municipal utilities

SECIRA© enables efficient and comprehensive risk analysis through the use of a digital twin. The platform provides a detailed and accurate representation of the infrastructure and ensures continuous threat monitoring. SECIRA© has been successfully used for over a year now, including by the Bielefeld municipal utilities. There, the use of the platform has enabled a more precise risk analysis with less effort, making the security strategy more efficient.

The advantages of SECIRA© lie in the creation of a digital twin that provides a transparent overview of systems, people and locations. In addition, the platform allows a comprehensive assessment of risk factors by simulating various attack scenarios and identifying potential vulnerabilities. This automation makes it possible to create analyses and reports with less effort, thus saving valuable resources. In addition, security gaps can be closed in a targeted manner and relevant measures can be implemented with precision. SECIRA© also makes it easier to meet legal requirements, thus significantly simplifying the process of ensuring compliance.

Voices of ICS GmbH

Stefan Zorn, managing director of ICS GmbH, sees E-world 2025 as a valuable opportunity to present SECIRA© to a broad specialist audience. He emphasises that the company already gained initial experience as a visitor last year and is now looking forward to presenting the advantages of the platform directly at the trade fair. Patric Birr, SECIRA Product Director, emphasises that municipal utilities are increasingly faced with the challenge of continuously monitoring their risks. He explains that SECIRA© takes on this task by performing a new risk assessment every night and incorporating current developments from the world of cybersecurity into the analysis.

Tickets and demo appointments

Interested municipal utilities have the opportunity to book an individual demo appointment for SECIRA© at the trade fair. In addition, free tickets for E-world 2025 can be requested on request.
