Klüh remains a partner for PRM services at Düsseldorf Airport

February 26, 2025

Düsseldorf Airport has once again awarded the contract for PRM services (passengers with reduced mobility) to Klüh, starting on 1 March. Specially trained employees of Klüh Security will support passengers with reduced mobility when boarding, disembarking and transferring, ensuring that everything runs smoothly at the airport. The support is provided in accordance with EU Regulation 1107/2006, which regulates the rights of passengers with reduced mobility throughout the EU.

‘We are pleased that Düsseldorf Airport continues to rely on our expertise in caring for passengers with reduced mobility. Our aim is to offer travellers with special needs a high degree of comfort and safety. The extension of the contract confirms our commitment to quality and service at the highest level and underlines the airport’s trust in our many years of expertise,’ explains Sven Horstmann, Managing Director at Klüh Security.

‘At Klüh, we know that our PRM service is still in good hands,’ explains Pradeep Pinakatt, Commercial Director and Labour Director at Flughafen Düsseldorf GmbH. ’For the first time, we are providing our own vehicles for this purpose. A total of twelve newly purchased scissor lift trucks and transporters with electric drives are contributing to the sustainable transformation of the apron.’

In addition to the PRM services, Klüh has been responsible for comprehensive cleaning services and other essential transport and logistics services at Düsseldorf Airport since February. These include the transport of flying personnel by shuttle service from their hotel to the gate and to the parked aircraft and back, lost and found services for lost luggage including redelivery to the passenger’s home or place of stay, shuttle services for private car park operators and Flughafen Düsseldorf GmbH, and courier services within the airport.

Klüh has been an experienced and expert partner for airports, airlines and handling companies in Germany and internationally for over 40 years. Its core competences include networked services, which, in addition to security, also include aircraft interior cleaning, on-board equipment, ramp & hangar operations, maintenance tasks, terminal cleaning, wheelchair services and care for passengers with limited mobility.

With 20 million passengers in 2024, Düsseldorf Airport is the largest airport in North Rhine-Westphalia. More than 60 airlines fly from here to over 160 destinations worldwide. Located in one of the strongest economic regions in Europe, with 18 million inhabitants within a radius of 100 kilometres, Düsseldorf Airport is of outstanding importance for meeting the mobility needs of the citizens and economy in North Rhine-Westphalia and the south-eastern Netherlands. In addition, as the largest workplace in Düsseldorf, providing over 20,000 jobs, the airport provides a significant employment boost for the state.
