Kooi Trading B.V., a specialist in mobile temporary video surveillance, is acquiring Addsecure Smart Surveillance GmbH, known on the market under the brand name Video Guard. With this move, Kooi is taking a strategically important step towards growth in the German market.
The merger of Video Guard with Kooi’s existing activities in Germany will create a powerful organisation with an established market position in the mobile, temporary video surveillance segment. In future, the company will operate in Germany under the name Video Guard. The aim of the integration is to further expand market presence and, through greater scaling, enable additional innovative strength, high service quality and even stronger customer focus.
The transaction is expected to be completed in the coming months and is subject to the usual regulatory approvals.
European strength with a clear focus on the German market
Kooi is a dynamically growing European provider of mobile video surveillance solutions headquartered in Drachten, the Netherlands. The company’s systems are used in particular to secure construction sites, industrial and logistics areas, and wind and solar parks. In addition, Kooi offers specialised solutions for early fire detection, which are mainly used in industrial, waste and recycling facilities.
With more than 300 employees, Kooi is currently active in 25 European countries. The company has been represented in Germany since 2015 and currently employs around 70 people.
Video Guard, headquartered in Hesel and with around 100 employees, has been an established provider of KRITIS-compliant security solutions for many years. The company has extensive expertise, particularly in the construction and infrastructure sectors and in the field of renewable energies. Its focus on German security technology and a high level of service across the industry has made Video Guard one of the fastest-growing and most customer-centric providers on the market.
Together, Kooi and Video Guard will have more than 5,000 active mobile surveillance systems in Germany in the future and will continue to expand their service network for the benefit of their customers.
Strategic response to increasing security needs
The acquisition comes against the backdrop of a significant increase in demand for flexible, technology-driven security solutions. Extensive investments in infrastructure and energy projects – including the German investment programme with a volume of over 500 billion euros – are leading to a structurally increasing need for temporary security solutions for large-scale project sites.
The merger will allow Kooi and Video Guard to combine their respective strengths. The aim is to provide even more targeted support to local customers with scalable solutions, high operational reliability and continuous technological development. The joint sales and service network is set to set new standards in the industry.
Due to its high brand awareness and strong reputation, the company will operate in Germany under the name Video Guard in future.
Comments on the acquisition
Peter Schollmann, CEO of the Kooi Group, explains: ‘With this acquisition, we are implementing a central component of our European growth strategy. Video Guard is a strong organisation with an excellent reputation in the German market. By combining our expertise, we are creating an organisation that can provide even better support to customers in a dynamically growing environment with increasing demands.’
Joern Windler, Managing Director of Video Guard, adds: ‘The merger strengthens our position in the long term and supports our clear focus on KRITIS-compliant security technology and excellent service. With a growing local presence, we will be able to provide our customers with even more intensive and personalised support in future.’
Joern Windler will take over the management of the combined German business. Günter Sandmann, previously Managing Director of Kooi Germany, will take on the role of CFO in future.
