lululemon partners with Nedap to advance RFID technology in stores worldwide

March 8, 2023

Nedap has been selected by lululemon (NASDAQ: LULU) as the new vendor to deploy the Nedap iD Cloud platform to enhance the omnichannel experience for its guests in its more than 600 stores worldwide by optimising merchandise availability.

lululemon athletica inc. is working with Nedap to further expand the omnichannel experience globally. As the stores are an important meeting point for the lululemon community, Nedap’s iD Cloud platform is a critical support to provide real-time inventory data. This means that the stores always have the right range of products on the floor and contribute to a seamless experience through digital connectivity.

“Our guests are at the heart of everything we do. We are very focused on creating a strong connection through seamless experiences in-store and online,” said Carl Barker, Vice President, Global Omni Programs at lululemon. “Thanks to the Nedap iD Cloud solution, we can leverage accurate, real-time data that helps our on-site educators spend even more time with our guests. Having a fully mobile cloud solution in-store is a key contributor to this experience. In the online business, RFID further enhances the digital experience by displaying accurate inventory visibility in real time and creating important fulfilment services, such as Click & Collect – online shopping with in-store pick-up (BOPIS).”

In August 2022, lululemon began rolling out iD Cloud to stores in North America. The project was completed in September and all North American stores went live with iD Cloud. lululemon will expand the RFID-based inventory management platform to Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific in early 2023, further driving growth in new markets.

Ailen Bilharz, Director of iD Cloud Platform North America at Nedap, says: “Retailers are constantly facing new challenges. lululemon benefits from its strong position in this environment by staying true to its vision and values of always being there for its guests. lululemon has a long history with RFID technology. The introduction of the iD Cloud platform thus heralds the next phase in the RFID journey. With Nedap’s scalable, real-time solution, lululemon can continue to optimally match supply and demand across all channels while improving the digital and physical experience.”
