The Danish provider holds a 19.1 per cent share, according to Omdia data cited by the company. The regional market for video management software and cloud-based surveillance services grew by 10 per cent in 2025 to USD 573 million.
Milestone Systems says it is the largest single provider of video management software (VMS) and Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS) in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The ranking is based on 2025 market-share data from technology research firm Omdia. Milestone held a 19.1 per cent share and has retained the top position since 2021, according to the company.
The figures cover a defined segment of the surveillance market: VMS software and cloud-based surveillance services, rather than the entire video surveillance industry. The combined EMEA market grew by 10 per cent in 2025 to USD 573 million. Milestone says growth was particularly strong in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Omdia’s database analyses market shares and vendor revenues by region; Milestone published the specific figures.
The growth reflects a broader shift in how organisations use video technology. Businesses and public-sector bodies increasingly use camera data to monitor operations and inform decisions in areas such as transport, logistics, retail and manufacturing. As AI is applied to video analytics, data protection, transparency and the provenance of training data are becoming more significant considerations alongside system performance.
Milestone attributes its market position to a portfolio spanning video management, analytics and cloud services. It includes XProtect video management software, the BriefCam AI analytics platform and the Arcules cloud service. The company says customers can deploy systems on premises, in the cloud or in hybrid environments, and add analytics without replacing existing installations.
For the European market, a key question is how to combine the benefits of video AI with data-protection requirements. Milestone points to Project Hafnia, which it describes as a GDPR-compliant video data library, and to anonymisation technology developed by Berlin-based brighter AI, acquired by Milestone in 2025. The initiatives are intended to provide greater transparency about the data used to train AI models, according to the company.
Omdia’s ranking identifies Milestone as the largest single provider in this specific market segment. It does not, by itself, establish the company’s position across the wider surveillance industry. For providers and customers alike, the test will be whether cloud-based and AI-enabled systems can deliver effective surveillance while remaining transparent and compliant with data-protection requirements.
