Omdia Report: Genetec consolidates global leadership position in video management

August 31, 2022

Genetec, technology provider for unified security management, public safety and business intelligence, continues to be the global leader in video surveillance software. This is according to the latest Omdia Report 2022. In access control software, Genetec was named the world’s fastest growing vendor for the second year in a row.

Genetec grows faster than the video surveillance software market

For the first time, the VSaaS (Video Surveillance as a Service) sector was included in the evaluation on video surveillance software. Genetec attributes its continued market leadership to the development of innovative and flexible cloud solutions, as well as the strength of its unified security platform, Security Center. In the Windows-based recorder category, revenue again grew faster than the overall market and is a testament to its global leadership in this segment.

“Genetec takes the market’s confidence in its products very seriously,” said Guy Chenard, chief commercial officer at Genetec. “Our open and unified security platform is the foundation for some of the most sophisticated video management systems in the world. Our end users, integrators and network of technology partners demand targeted and reliable innovation from a trusted software developer.”

In the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) region, Genetec maintained its market position, while in the Americas, the company remains the market leader for the 11th consecutive year and achieved the largest market share gain in the last three years. In addition, Genetec recorded significant year-on-year growth in Asia Pacific (excl. China), moving into second place.

Fastest growing access control software vendor in EMEA region

According to the Omdia Report, Genetec is the fastest growing technology provider in the access control software market for the second year in a row. In the process, the Canadian company continued to increase its market share, ranking second globally (fourth in 2019). Genetec made particular gains in the EMEA region, while the largest organic growth was generated in North and South America.

“While traditional, proprietary access control systems have had a tough time in recent years, Genetec has grown by nearly 20% globally, gaining ground in both the Americas and EMEA,” says Bryan Montany, Physical Security Analyst at Omdia.
