Optex Unveils Redscan Lite at Sicurezza in Milan

November 23, 2025

At this year’s Sicurezza in Milan, Optex showcased its latest lidar system, Redscan Lite, marking its debut in Italy. This compact sensor enhances the company’s award-winning portfolio and is specifically designed for high-security indoor environments such as data centres and other critical infrastructure facilities.

Redscan Lite is engineered for narrow and hard-to-protect indoor spaces, where traditional sensors often fall short. Leveraging time-of-flight (TOF) technology, the system detects intruders within a 10 x 10 metre area in just 100 milliseconds, allowing even small gaps between server racks, raised floors, or skylights to be secured—a significant advantage for security-critical sites.

Advancements in Fiber Sensys Technology

Alongside Redscan Lite, Optex introduced the latest evolution in its Fiber Sensys sensor portfolio: the Point Defender PD500. This fence-mounted system is currently the only copper fence sensor on the market with cut tolerance, providing pinpoint detection across 500 metres, with each intrusion detected to within one metre.

The system’s high precision makes it particularly suitable for critical infrastructure, energy and utility facilities, warehouses, logistics hubs, and high-end commercial properties, where accurate localisation of intrusion attempts is vital. Its intelligent detection algorithms ensure that even minimal tampering is reliably identified.

Optex at Sicurezza: Combining Innovation and Expertise

“We are delighted to return to Sicurezza—an event that remains highly significant for Optex,” says Mark Cosgrave, Divisional Director – Western Europe. “This year’s expanded presence marks a new chapter: we are blending technological innovation with decades of expertise and inviting visitors to experience our latest high-security solutions firsthand.”

Optex also used the event to preview two technologies set for launch in 2026: a new high-mounted sensor for narrow applications and a cloud-based system that will enable remote monitoring, management, and control of Optex sensors.

With the introduction of Redscan Lite and the Point Defender PD500, Optex reinforces its position as a leader in high-security sensor technology. The Sicurezza trade fair offered an opportunity not only to showcase current solutions but also to provide a glimpse of innovations that are set to elevate security standards in critical infrastructure and demanding indoor environments in the coming years.
