November 21, 2025

Around 270 exhibitors from 29 countries in Cologne ++ Exhibition space grows ++ Hackathon@PMRExpo with 40 participants ++ Expanded technical programme ++ PMRExpo Summit with deep dives into police and fire services

In a few days, the entire industry of secure, mission-critical and business-critical communications will meet again in Cologne. From 25 to 27 November 2025, around 270 exhibitors from 29 countries will present their latest products, applications, technologies and services at PMRExpo. This year, Europe’s leading trade fair for secure communications will take place in an enlarged exhibition space, continuing the strong development of the previous year. The focus will be on solutions for public safety organisations (PSO), critical infrastructures (CRITIS) and the business sector.

Keynote speech & opening

On 25 November, Bernhard Klinger, PMeV Chairman of the Board, and Oliver Frese, Managing Director of Koelnmesse, will welcome exhibitors and visitors at 10 a.m. in the Connecting Area. Bernhard Klinger will then open the three-day event after a keynote speech. The title of the keynote speech is: ‘For a resilient Europe: The strategic importance of critical communications.’

The PMRExpo Summit and the new symposium ‘PMRExpo meets Defence Technology’ will take place parallel to the trade fair. Both formats offer a high-calibre programme on current challenges, best practice examples and insights from authorities, the armed forces, research and industry.

Highlights of PMRExpo 2025

Connecting Area

The Connecting Area is the central meeting point of the trade fair. On all three days of the trade fair, there will be a free stage programme with specialist talks, presentations and practical insights. New this year: On Tuesday, 25 November, from 12 noon to 6 p.m., the specialist programme ‘Private 5G live – Solutions for networked security and digital sovereignty’ will take place for the first time. The Connecting Area is also the most important networking location at PMRExpo and offers numerous opportunities to talk to leading experts from the industry.

Hackathon@PMRExpo

Hackathon@PMRExpo brings together 40 young tech talents – significantly more than last year – for a 48-hour design and coding marathon. The aim is to develop AI-supported solutions that improve crisis management, support decision-making processes and increase the effectiveness of communication in critical situations. Interested parties can network with participants and supporters (PMRExpo exhibitors who provide technical support to the young talents) on site and learn about current ideas from the developer community. The hackathon will open on 25 November, with the final presentations following on 27 November on the Connecting Area stage.

5G Hub for Private Networks

In the special exhibition area, exhibitors will also be demonstrating live in 2025 how private 5G networks are setting new standards for networked applications in aviation, production, mobility, logistics and critical infrastructure. Visitors will experience practical scenarios and technological innovations that increase efficiency, flexibility and security while ensuring data sovereignty. Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise, Campus Genius, FBI GmbH, Fraunhofer FOKUS, Fraunhofer IOSB-INA, Nokia, Riedel Communications and Uplink/Ericsson will be represented in the 5G Hub for Private Networks.

PMRExpo Summit

The summit offers a wide-ranging programme with high-ranking representatives from government agencies, science and industry. In 2025, the focus will be on KRITIS, public safety and in-depth insights into the police and fire service on 26 November. Developments in the field of control centres will also be discussed in detail. A ticket is required to attend, which also entitles the holder to visit the ‘PMRExpo meets Defence Technology’ symposium.

PMRExpo meets Defence Technology’ symposium

The symposium is being held for the first time in conjunction with PMRExpo and is dedicated to current topics relating to drone and cyber technology, promoting direct exchange between the British Armed Forces, BOS and industry. On 25 and 26 November, experts from the German Armed Forces, disaster control, research & teaching and industry, among others, will provide information on current technologies and developments. The symposium can be attended with the same ticket that is valid for the PMRExpo Summit.

PMRExpo is organised by Koelnmesse and the German Professional Mobile Radio Association (PMeV) as the conceptual sponsor. About PMeV – SECURE COMMUNICATION NETWORK: PMeV is a network of experts for secure, mission-critical and highly available communication solutions for mobile professional use. It is the conceptual sponsor of PMRExpo. Its members include manufacturers, system and application providers, network operators, users and consultants.
