CES 2025: Alibaba Cloud – AI and cloud innovations with global relevance

January 12, 2025

Alibaba Cloud’s AI and cloud innovations at CES 2025, in particular the Qwen 2.5 series with its open-source language models, are not completely new concepts, but rather further developments of existing technologies that further improve the computing power and language capabilities of the models. Language models and AI-powered threat detection are already established in the security industry, particularly with companies like Google, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft developing similar technologies.

However, the Qwen 2.5 series offers an expanded model size and multilingualism (with support for over 29 languages), which strengthens global security applications, particularly in an increasingly connected world. The application of AI in threat detection and automated surveillance is also not revolutionary, but an extension and refinement of existing technologies.

The expansion of infrastructure with new data centres in Asia is relevant as it increases the global scalability and availability of cloud services, which is especially important for international security operations.

In summary, Alibaba Cloud’s AI developments and cloud strategies at CES 2025 are not entirely new, but rather advanced developments and optimised applications of existing technologies in the security sector.
