NTT DATA establishes global Microsoft Cloud unit – Focus on secure, AI-powered business modernisation

August 13, 2025

NTT DATA, a provider of digital business and technology services, has established a global business unit for the Microsoft Cloud. The aim is to accelerate the secure, scalable and compliant adoption of cloud and AI technologies and support companies in the end-to-end transformation of their IT landscapes.

The new Microsoft Cloud Unit combines expertise in cloud-native development, cyber security, observability and agentic AI – aligned with Microsoft’s technology roadmap – and addresses the specific requirements of regulated industries. With over 50 country offices and a pool of Microsoft-certified professionals with more than 24,000 certifications, NTT DATA can provide global companies with comprehensive support for complex digitalisation projects.

Security and compliance-driven focus areas

  • Agentic AI at enterprise scale: Scaling AI agents using Microsoft 365 Copilot and Azure AI Foundry with a focus on governance, data privacy and ethical principles.
  • Cloud modernisation on Azure: Development and migration of applications with minimised complexity, optimised resilience and preparation for future security requirements.
  • Sovereign cloud usage: Participation in Microsoft’s AI Cloud Partner Programme with specialisation in sovereign cloud architectures to comply with local and industry-specific regulations.
  • Integrated security architectures: Use of over 500 industry-specific microservices from the NTT DATA Industry Cloud Platform to deliver secure, modular and high-performance enterprise applications.

Accelerated implementation of AI workflows

The launch of the new unit follows the successful rollout of Agentic AI Services for Hyperscaler AI Technologies. These enable complex, cross-platform AI workflows to be developed, orchestrated and securely operated via Azure AI Agent Service. Nearly 100 new customer projects were initiated within 90 days, including with Newell Brands – an indicator of the growing demand for practical, secure AI solutions.

Extended Microsoft expertise as a guarantee of security

With 27 Advanced Specialisations in areas such as Security, Data & AI for Azure, Infrastructure and AI Business Solutions, NTT DATA supports companies with big data analytics, flexible scaling of AI/ML workloads and the development of cost-efficient, highly secure infrastructures.

‘With the global Microsoft Cloud entity, we are combining the security, cloud and AI expertise of both companies to provide customers with not only technological but also regulatory assurance,’ emphasises Charlie Li, Head of Cloud and Security Services at NTT DATA.

Stephen Boyle, Global Leader SI & Advisory at Microsoft, adds: ‘This expanded partnership enables companies to integrate AI and modern cloud services in a way that ensures productivity, compliance and security go hand in hand.’
