Axis Communications introduces AXIS A4612 Network Bluetooth® Reader

Axis Communications, the world leader in network video, is expanding its access control portfolio with a forward-looking solution: the new AXIS A4612 Network Bluetooth® Reader is a compact, robust reader that combines modern Bluetooth technology with proven support for RFID cards. The user-friendly solution is specially tailored to the requirements of a wide range of applications, from retail to education, and offers convenient, secure and easy-to-manage access via mobile devices.

With the AXIS A4612 Network Bluetooth® Reader, Axis is responding to the growing demand for flexible and digital access solutions that can be seamlessly integrated into existing security infrastructures. The new reader enables contactless access via mobile devices, for example via an app or by briefly tapping the device – without the need to actively pick up the mobile phone. This functionality not only saves time, but also increases convenience for users in their everyday lives. At the same time, the device supports the most common RFID cards with 13.56 MHz technology, which facilitates integration into hybrid access systems.

Technically, the AXIS A4612 Reader impresses with its fully IP-based connection. This allows not only individual readers but entire door systems – including electric locks and door contact sensors – to be controlled via a single device. Management is centralised and convenient via AXIS Camera Station Secure Entry or other Axis components, enabling a complete end-to-end solution. Remote maintenance via the network ensures that system administrators can access the device and adjust configurations at any time without having to be physically on site. This saves resources and increases operational efficiency.

Axis has placed particular emphasis on user-friendliness and design in the development of the AXIS A4612 reader. The device is not only functional, but also aesthetically designed for modern environments. The slim design with a scratch-resistant glass front allows for easy installation even in confined spaces, such as narrow door frames. Thanks to IP55 certification, the reader is also ideally equipped for outdoor use and reliably withstands the effects of weather.

Another advantage is the simple power supply via Power over Ethernet (PoE). This eliminates the need for additional cabling between the reader and the door control. This significantly reduces installation costs and simplifies commissioning – a decisive factor, especially for retrofits or in existing buildings with limited infrastructure.

The launch of the AXIS A4612 Network Bluetooth® Reader marks another milestone in Axis Communications’ strategy to offer modern, user-centric security solutions. ‘Modern access control is not just about denying unauthorised access, but also about making it as easy as possible for authorised visitors to access protected areas,’ emphasises Benjamin Körner, Architect & Engineering Manager at Axis Communications. The new solution meets this requirement to a particularly high degree, Körner continues. It has been designed specifically for environments where security, user-friendliness and flexibility are key requirements, such as retail stores, educational institutions and modern office buildings.

With the AXIS A4612 Network Bluetooth® Reader, Axis once again underlines its commitment to providing technologically leading and practical solutions for a wide range of security requirements. The combination of smart technology, easy handling, robust design and seamless network integration makes the new product a future-proof investment for businesses and institutions of all sizes.
