SimonsVoss presents SmartHandle AX Advanced, a new high-tech digital door fitting optimized for use on exterior doors. The specialist in digital locking technology from Unterföhring is expanding its range of door fittings based on the AX platform with a perfect addition to the successful SmartHandle AX for interior doors.
“With this hardware duo, we can work much more flexibly with our specialist retail partners in the market and offer users a complete solution that meets the essential requirements for burglary and fire protection as well as emergency exit protection in the area of external security. User comfort and design are harmoniously integrated,” explains Oliver Brandmeier, Head of Product Management.
Depending on the area of application, the hardware is available with a narrow or wide cover. The carrier plate with the electronic, actuator and battery modules is located underneath. The module carrier offers sufficient space for the hardware to be individually adapted to different doors and installation situations with the help of additional fixing plates. Like all components of the AX platform, the new SmartHandle AX Advanced supports the reading methods active transponder, passive SmartCard (MIFARE®DESFire®), hybrid (active and passive) and Bluetooth (BLE). The hardware is suitable for offline use, partial networking and full networking.

▪ Waterproof and weatherproof
In the WP variant with protection class IP66, it is protected from all sides against environmental influences such as direct water jets or dust – a major advantage for free-standing exterior doors such as fence doors. The wireless connection between the outside and inside ensures optimal protection of the electronics and avoids electronic weak points.
Highest certified burglary protection ES3/SKG***
In the version with security hardware, strong fixing screws and a metal plate prevent unwanted manipulation. An additional mechanical cylinder is protected by a sheathing and is installed so that it does not stick out.
Can be used in escape and rescue routes
The SmartHandle AX Advanced can also be used in escape and rescue routes in accordance with DIN EN 1125 in the A4 version for panic bars. A mounting adapter can be used to mount a panic bar on the inside of the door, which clears the way in an emergency.
High angle of rotation against wear
A high rotation angle of up to 50° means that the lever handle is less likely to be turned as far as it will go. This high angle protects against wear and contributes to the durability of the SmartHandle AX Advanced. It has also passed a test with 1 million operations, five times more than required by the standard, to prove its extreme resilience.
A wide range of variants for different installation situations
The SmartHandle AX Advanced is available in a total of nine variants with different fixing plates. It is suitable for metal frame and solid leaf doors with thicknesses from 32 mm to 185 mm. It can also be used on free-standing external doors such as fence doors. Seven different handle designs (can be mounted on the left or right) are available, as well as several surface designs such as stainless steel or brass.
Easy installation
Thanks to the wide range of variants, no additional drilling is necessary in most installation situations, nor is wiring through the door, since the electronics are protected and located exclusively on the outside.
