TÜV NORD Academy – Fire protection is a matter of trust

More than 70% of all industrial buildings require fire protection concepts

Fire protection specialists advise existing companies on structural, technical and organisational fire protection and help them to meet both legal requirements and the requirements of insurance companies. Whether a fire protection specialist is required for fire protection certification depends primarily on the building class. A fire protection specialist is mandatory for class 5 buildings and special structures.

The responsibilities of fire protection specialists are complex:

  • When renovating existing buildings, they must take into account the fire protection status of the buildings as well as existing building protection regulations.
  • During the planning phase, they advise architects on what they need to consider in terms of fire protection.
  • During the approval phase, they prepare the necessary fire protection certificates for the building.
  • As part of construction supervision, they check whether the fire protection requirements are being met.
