Lidar specialist Quanergy presents the new Q-Track Bridge Connector, an integration that seamlessly connects its M1 Edge PoE lidar sensors with Motorola Solutions’ Avigilon Unity (versions 7.x–8.x). This integrates lidar-based object detection directly into the well-known video and security management system, opening up new possibilities for smarter, faster and more accurate hazard monitoring.
In many security-critical areas, such as rooftops, fences, data centres or critical infrastructure, small or difficult-to-detect objects pose a risk. Conventional detection systems such as radar or light barriers often reach their limits here – either due to limited precision or a high number of false alarms.
By combining Quanergy’s 2D lidar technology with the Avigilon Unity platform, lidar detection events are fed directly into Unity. This allows security managers to immediately detect and evaluate unusual activities in their familiar system. The high angular resolution of the M1 Edge sensors enables reliable detection of even the smallest objects – such as people climbing over fences or objects being thrown over barriers.
The Q-Track Bridge Connector offers users flexible options for individually configuring up to 128 detection zones that precisely match the conditions of the real environment – for example, roof slopes, protrusions or safety distances. As soon as an event is detected, the alarm appears in Avigilon Unity directly next to the corresponding video image. This makes it easier to assess the situation and significantly speeds up the response.
Installation is also efficient: Power over Ethernet (PoE) means that a single cable is sufficient for power supply and data transmission, which reduces costs and ensures clean, flexible installations.
‘With the Q-Track Bridge, we are bringing lidar-based situational awareness directly to the platforms that security professionals use every day,’ explains Gerald Becker, Vice President of Market Development & Alliances at Quanergy. ‘Whether it’s roof access, perimeter breaches or objects dropped by drones, all of this can now be detected and managed in Avigilon Unity. This integration makes lidar security technology more accessible and practical than ever before.’
