Salto expands JustIN Mobile: NFC ‘Tap to Open’ now also available for iOS

November 14, 2025

Salto, one of the leading providers of modern access control solutions, is launching a significant expansion of its mobile access technology on the European market: the JustIN Mobile app now supports NFC-based ‘Tap to Open’ on iOS devices. This makes Salto one of the first manufacturers to provide a full NFC access experience for iPhone users in Europe.

More intuitive, faster and more secure: mobile access control taken to the next level

With the new upgrade, users can open doors by simply holding their iPhone up to a Salto smart lock or compatible reader. This form of physical interaction is based on the simplicity of traditional keys or RFID cards, but combined with the flexibility and security of digital key systems.

For years, NFC ‘Tap to Open’ has been the preferred method for mobile access control, as it provides immediate and highly user-friendly access. For existing JustIN Mobile users, the extension for iOS now provides another option that ensures greater efficiency, especially in environments with high foot traffic or fast access processes.

Strong security, familiar user experience

The NFC function is based on a robust security architecture: the exchange between the iPhone and the Salto reader is encrypted and virtually instantaneous. The result is an access experience that is in no way inferior to physical access control – such as keycards – but at the same time offers the advantages of digital solutions.

Whether electronic cylinders, wall readers, locker solutions or door locks: a simple tap is all it takes and access authorisation is verified in a fraction of a second.

Availability and easy conversion

The new feature is now available to JustIN Mobile users with iPhones throughout Europe. Existing users can easily switch from the previous Bluetooth mode (BLE) to NFC access in the app settings. In addition, an iPhone lock screen widget provides even faster access to the digital key.

The app is available as usual in the Apple App Store.

The most important advantages at a glance

  • Maximum user-friendliness: Intuitive ‘tap to access’ – briefly hold your iPhone to the Salto lock and open the door.
  • Maximum security: Every transaction is securely verified via NFC; data and authorisation protection is a top priority.
  • Easy migration: Switch from BLE to NFC directly in the app settings.
  • Greater convenience: Lock screen widget for even faster, seamless door opening.
  • Cross-platform consistency: Uniform NFC experience for iOS and Android devices.

Future-proof mobile access solutions for a wide range of applications

The NFC extension strengthens Salto’s position as an innovation leader in the field of digital access control. Businesses, residential complexes, co-working spaces, educational institutions and critical infrastructures alike benefit from a fast, smooth and secure iOS-based access system – embedded in the Salto Space ecosystem.

With this update, Salto is once again setting new standards and bringing mobile access control closer than ever to a completely contactless, fast and user-centred experience.
