Salto receives Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for its portfolio of digital Neo cylinders

June 7, 2025

The EPD verification transparently describes the environmental impact of Neo cylinders, enabling users to make sustainable decisions.

All versions of Salto Neo cylinders have been assessed by an independent body as part of an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). The EPD applies to all European, Scandinavian, Swiss, British and American versions of the digital locking cylinders.

An EPD is a document certified by an independent body that provides a transparent and detailed overview of a product’s environmental impact throughout its entire life cycle – from material extraction and manufacturing to disposal at the end of its service life. EPDs offer both companies and consumers a trustworthy and standardised tool for assessing a product’s environmental impact.

For architects, planners, users and other professionals in the construction industry, quantifying a product’s environmental impact through EPDs provides an important basis for sustainable decisions. It also ensures compliance with standards for environmentally friendly construction and ecological building methods.

The easy-to-install Neo cylinders replace mechanical cylinders and, thanks to a wide range of model options, fit any door – whether new or existing. They offer all the advantages of wireless access control and work seamlessly with virtual networks (SVN and SVN-Flex), wireless networking (BLUEnet) and mobile access (JustIN Mobile). The security requirements of users, employees and visitors in a wide variety of buildings are thus implemented in seamless, keyless solutions. The Neo cylinders are available in various designs and offer countless options for customisation to meet project-specific requirements. They are therefore suitable for a wide range of applications in residential, commercial, educational, healthcare and office environments – especially for retrofit projects.

EPD verification for the electronic cylinders in the Salto Neo range is part of Salto’s comprehensive environmental strategy, which focuses on reducing the CO2 footprint in all areas of the company’s business. This includes aspects such as durability and recyclability for a long service life and reduced waste, as well as environmentally friendly manufacturing. Salto’s production facilities are ISO 14001 certified and use 100% renewable energy for energy-efficient production processes. In addition, the packaging is environmentally friendly, with 98% of the materials being recycled and FSC certified. Salto also uses low-carbon shipping methods.
