‘Security cylinders in Austria 2025’: Sales increase due to growing replacement business

May 28, 2025

The Austrian market for security cylinders rose moderately again in 2024. However, growth was only seen in the replacement business, according to current data from a market study by the market research institute BRANCHENRADAR.com Marktanalyse.

After the slump in sales in 2023, the market for security cylinders picked up again last year. According to the latest BRANCHENRADAR Security Cylinders in Austria report, manufacturer revenues grew by 1.9 per cent year-on-year to 48.3 million euros in 2024.

However, the growth was exclusively attributable to replacement business. Year-on-year, turnover increased by 4.3 per cent. ‘The increase can be explained, on the one hand, by a recovery in the housing market,’ analyses study author Heinrich Thaler. ‘Transactions on the secondary market picked up, both in the ownership and rental segments, not least because new construction is weakening.’

On the other hand, the increasing number of residential and commercial buildings collapsing in 2023 (+5.0% compared to the previous year) also provided growth impetus. In new construction, however, the downturn is accelerating rapidly. Sales of security cylinders for new buildings fell by almost 13 percent year-on-year.
