Security Essen 2026: Expanding the Future of Civil and Defence Security

January 26, 2026

Security Essen continues to strengthen its position as the leading international trade fair for the security industry. With around eighteen months remaining until the next edition, demand for exhibition space is already exceptionally high. Large parts of the venue are booked well in advance, underlining the relevance of the event as a central industry platform. From 22 to 25 September 2026, Messe Essen will once again become a focal point for innovation, networking, and strategic exchange across the global security sector.

Strong Industry Commitment and High Booking Levels

The response from the security industry has been overwhelmingly positive. Numerous companies secured their participation during the previous event, including well-known names such as Hekatron, NSC Sicherheitstechnik, Advancis Software & Services, Deister Electronic, ABI-Sicherheitssysteme, Rohde & Schwarz, and Ajax Systems. Major players such as Telenot, Abus, and Salto have also confirmed their attendance.

Due to sustained demand, the popular exhibition halls 7 and 8 are already close to full capacity. This early booking trend highlights both the strong market confidence in Security Essen and its importance as a long-term planning platform for manufacturers, integrators, and solution providers.

New Focus on AI, Drones, Robotics, and Video Technologies

Security Essen 2026 will introduce a new thematic focus reflecting the technological transformation of the security industry. Hall 5 will bring together video surveillance, artificial intelligence, drones, and robotics—technologies that are increasingly shaping modern security concepts.

By consolidating these key innovation areas in a single hall, the event creates a dedicated hub for decision-makers, users, and technology leaders. The goal is to facilitate targeted exchange, foster partnerships, and provide practical insights into future-ready security solutions.

Civil and Military Security United Under One Roof

A major milestone for Security Essen 2026 is its parallel staging with the newly launched Euro Defence Expo (EUDEX). For the first time, civil and military security solutions will be presented side by side at Messe Essen, creating strong cross-sector synergies.

“In light of the current global security environment, cooperation across sectors is more important than ever,” explains Julia Jacob, Project Manager of Security Essen. “By bringing together key stakeholders from civil and military security, we are creating a unique platform for developing joint solutions to emerging challenges.”

The connection between Security Essen and EUDEX will be established through the Civil Protection & Civil Defence exhibition area. Located at the transition between Halls 4 and 5, this area will enable close interaction between exhibitors and visitors from both domains.

High-Level Conferences and International Expertise

Further strengthening the international relevance of the event, the annual conference of the NATO Joint Air Power Competence Centre (JAPCC) will take place on-site during the trade fairs. The conference will bring together high-ranking military representatives from all 32 NATO member nations, reinforcing Messe Essen as a venue for strategic dialogue at the highest level.

Outlook

With strong early demand, a clear technological focus, and the strategic integration of civil and defence security, Security Essen 2026 is set to deliver significant added value for the industry. By combining innovation, expertise, and cross-sector collaboration, the event confirms its role as a leading platform for shaping the future of security.
