Security industry NRW – No agreement between BDSW and ver.di

Security industry NRW – No agreement between BDSW and ver.diIn the 3rd round of negotiations on a new collective agreement for the security industry in North Rhine-Westphalia, the parties were unable to reach an agreement. The negotiations were adjourned without result and without a follow-up date. “Our offer of a total increase of up to 14 per cent over 24 months was rejected by ver.di and they are threatening to go on strike in the near future,” said Gunnar Vielhaack, Chairman of the NRW regional group of the BDSW and lead negotiator on the employers’ side.

The representatives of the employers’ side expressed their incomprehension at the rejection of the offer. This already exceeds the wage increases of other federal states such as Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and the Berlin metropolitan region in the current round of wage negotiations.

In addition to the offer presented, the employers’ side had shown a willingness to increase the offer even further for the sensitive areas of guarding military properties and nuclear facilities.

The postponement of the negotiations without a follow-up date means that the approximately 55,000 employees in the sector in North Rhine-Westphalia will go – possibly for many months – without the very good wage increases on offer.
