Dirk Dingfelder (D+H Mechatronic) has been confirmed as Chairman of the Executive Board of the ZVEI Security Association. At the association’s general meeting on 3 June 2025, Klaus Hirzel (Honeywell) and Alexander Yeomans (Siemens) were also re-elected as deputy chairmen. Other board members are Dr Sebastian Festag (Hekatron), Dr Henrik Siegle (Bosch Security Systems) and Frank Wienböker (Kingspan STG).
The board sees its central tasks in networking with other trades in the building sector as well as in the further development of standardisation and the legal and regulatory framework. ‘The future of security technology lies in integration and networking with other trades in smart buildings,’ says Dingfelder. ‘We are facing major challenges with regard to some of the “guidelines” in our market.’ Dingfelder cites the future of standardisation, the implementation of sustainability requirements and the ongoing shortage of skilled workers as the main tasks and challenges facing the industry in the future.
Overall, however, Dingfelder believes that the industry is well equipped for the future: “We have laid the groundwork for issues such as digitalisation and services with the relevant European standards. This gives manufacturers, installers and customers a transparent and reliable framework for new business models.” This positive assessment is also based on the continuing growth of the market for electronic security technology in Germany: the ZVEI recently forecast a 3.4 per cent increase in sales to 5.5 billion euros for 2024.
