Allegion strengthens market presence in Australia with acquisition of Lemaar

February 26, 2025

Allegion has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Lemaar Australia Pty Ltd, a leading provider of door hardware based in Victoria, Australia. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2025, subject to customary approvals.

Since its founding in 1999, Lemaar has been recognised for its high-quality security and accessibility solutions, including door opening systems, handles and digital locks for residential and multi-family buildings. With a complementary product portfolio and aligned distribution channels, the acquisition provides Allegion with new opportunities to scale and expand in the market.

Upon closing, Lemaar will be integrated into Allegion’s International segment and report to Tim Eckersley, Allegion senior vice president. ‘The acquisition strengthens our existing business in Australia and expands our security and accessibility solutions offering,’ said Eckersley. ‘Lemaar is synonymous with quality, which aligns well with our reputation in the industry.’

Bill Spyrou, owner of Lemaar, will serve in an advisory role to support the transition. ‘Our product lines are a perfect fit for Allegion,’ said Spyrou. ‘Together, we will provide added value for builders, retailers and DIYers – in terms of both design and style, and safety and accessibility.’
