Genetec remains the global leader in the video surveillance software market

August 27, 2025

Genetec Inc., an international provider of security software for businesses, maintains its leading position in the global video surveillance software market. This is according to recent market analyses by independent research firms Omdia and Novaira Insights.

According to Omdia’s Video Surveillance & Analytics Database Report 2025, Genetec once again ranks first in the global ranking for video surveillance software. The company also leads the new combined category, which combines traditional video surveillance software with Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS). Continuous investment in open, scalable and cyber-secure cloud solutions has contributed significantly to this leading market position.

A key growth driver is the increasing adoption of Security Centre SaaS, which was launched in mid-2024. This cloud-based solution not only helped Genetec enter the global top ten in the VSaaS segment, but also earned the company fourth place in the Americas – the world’s largest and fastest-growing market for cloud-based video surveillance. At the same time, Genetec is experiencing strong growth in its combined VSaaS and Access Control as a Service (ACaaS) offerings, as more and more security managers are turning to unified, cloud-based deployment models.

Strong market position in all regions

From a regional perspective, Genetec confirmed its leading position in the American market for the 14th consecutive time. In the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Africa), the company maintained its second place ranking and achieved the largest market share growth among the top 10 providers. In the Asia-Pacific region (excluding China), Genetec currently ranks third.

‘The video surveillance market is growing steadily worldwide, driven by increasing security requirements and the faster introduction of new technologies,’ explains Scott Foley, Senior Analyst for Physical Security at Omdia. ‘Our research shows that Genetec is not only maintaining its global leadership, but also winning over customers with innovative solutions that can be flexibly adapted to the needs of a wide variety of organisations.’

Market researchers at Novaira Insights also confirm Genetec’s leadership in video surveillance software and related service contracts. The company is also one of the fastest-growing providers in the hardware and software segments.

Focus on freedom of choice and openness

‘Our philosophy is to give customers more choice, not less,’ emphasises Christian Morin, Vice President of Product Engineering and Chief Security Officer at Genetec. “Organisations should be able to deploy their security solutions in whatever way best suits their needs: locally, in the cloud, or in hybrid models. This applies to both video surveillance and access control. That’s why we develop technologies that offer maximum flexibility – regardless of proprietary system ties.”
