SCD receives orders worth over 50 million US dollars for infrared detectors

August 20, 2025

Israeli company SCD, which specialises in cooled and uncooled infrared detectors, has received new orders worth US$50 million from North American customers. Over a period of two years, the SWIR detectors Cardinal 1280 and high-resolution MWIR detectors will be integrated into long-range surveillance systems. The orders underscore confidence in SCD’s technology, which delivers reliable results even under difficult conditions such as smoke, fog or dust. The Cardinal 1280 offers precise target detection even in poor visibility thanks to its high sensitivity in the short-wave spectrum and integrated Asynchronous Laser Pulse Detection (ALPD). The MWIR detectors feature robust construction, high image quality and flexible deployment options on various platforms. ‘Our sensors enable longer ranges, higher target accuracy and safer missions in complex operating environments,’ emphasised CEO Kobi Zaushnizer. The orders strengthen SCD’s position as a leading supplier of IR sensor technology for defence and internal security.
