Technology partnership: Access control for businesses via telephone: Auerswald cooperates with DoorBird
Greater security and transparency in access control: Auerswald, Germany’s leading specialist in business communications, and Bird Home Automation GmbH, manufacturer of DoorBird door intercom systems, announce their technology partnership. The first joint project is the integration of a DoorBird IP video door station with a telephone device from the Auerswald COMfortel D series via an Auerswald COMtrexx PBX server. The system is already in use by initial users. Further joint solutions will follow.
‘Like Auerswald, DoorBird stands for the highest quality and manufacturing Made in Germany,’ says Christian Auerswald, Managing Director of Auerswald GmbH & Co. KG. ‘We are confident that the cooperation and the resulting solutions will meet our mutual expectations.’ Sascha Keller, CEO of Bird Home Automation GmbH, is also convinced: ‘The combination of our door stations with Auerswald’s communication systems brings both worlds together and offers added value in addition to increased IT security.’
Visitors are shown on the COMfortel display
Thanks to the integration of a DoorBird IP video door station with a COMfortel D terminal, door calls in companies are now displayed on the connected telephone. Users can see visitors on the COMfortel display and talk to them via a live video feed. The COMfortel terminal and the DoorBird door station can be installed independently of each other; A VPN connection is required for this. This means that use in the same building is no longer a prerequisite. The system is particularly suitable for use in industries with high security standards, as it enables full access control and admission.
Similar products are becoming increasingly popular in the private sector, but have not yet been considered for use in companies due to a lack of protective mechanisms. For example, data processing for B2C solutions usually takes place outside Europe, whereas in the case of the joint solutions from Auerswald and DoorBird, it takes place on servers in Germany.
Proven use in care facilities
The system is already in use at ‘Der Pflegebote’, an assisted living facility. Here, it is used by staff to check visitors’ access authorisation and grant them entry accordingly. Caregivers can open the entrance door with an RFID chip or via NFC or Bluetooth using their smartphone. This ensures that only authorised persons can enter without compromising data protection. The system is also suitable for use in facilities with night counters, such as pharmacies.
With the integration of telephony and door intercom systems, companies have the opportunity to increase their level of security. The installation of a reliable access control system is one of the technical and organisational measures (TOMs) required by regulations such as the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and the NIS 2 Directive.
In addition to access control and remote-controlled entry, the first joint development by the two companies offers another advantage: since the technology used can display who is currently in the building, it is possible to quickly determine whether and which persons are still present in the event of danger. In the event of a building fire, for example, this could potentially save lives.
Softphone integration announced
Thanks to the excellent cooperation between Auerswald and Berlin-based Bird Home Automation GmbH and the wide range of integration options, the partnership is set to be expanded continuously. Auerswald is already a Gold Partner of DoorBird. The integration of the COMfortel SoftPhone 2, which can be used anywhere, is planned for the coming months.
